Spring Day up to 6000!

The Spring Day community is growing day by day. The 6000th school to register in the campaign was Kindergarten No. 251 in Bucharest, Romania, on 4 May.

Offering many learning resources and activities, the Spring Day campaign is joining together school centres from all over Europe, under the 2009 umbrella theme of “Creativity and Innovation”. This year, a great number of online debates and face to face meetings with students are taking place, involving experts, VIPs, MEPs and other special guests.

With 2451 schools, Romania boasts the largest participation in Europe. In the words of Mirela Andrei, who registered Kindergarten No. 251, the decision to take part in Spring Day activities was inspired by the urgent need to “raise awareness about Europe and its people from a very early age, starting from the pre-school curriculum”.

Kindergarten No. 251 consists of more than 350 children and 26 teachers. In addition to the regular curriculum subjects, the children learn English and German, and teachers carry out projects with a partner kindergarten in Bremen, Germany. For Kindergarten No. 251 as well as for all the schools involved, Spring Day is an opportunity to open up schools to a European dimension.
