What is podcasting?

04/05/2007 by: Agathe Djelalian

Podcasting is a method of making audio files available over the internet such that they can be automatically downloaded and listened to on your computer or loaded onto your portable audio player.

You can subscribe to podcasts via an RSS feed

To subscribe to the podcast feeds, download podcasting software, feed readers or RSS reader and add the feed (see below). Popular subscription services are iTunes, Odeo, and iPodder. These services allow you to search, select, subscribe, update, and manage podcasts.

Where do you get podcast (feed, RSS) readers?

Windows
FeedDemon
Firefox (Native RSS support)
Newz Crawler
iTunes (Native podcast support in version 4.9)

Mac OS X
iPodderX
NetNewsWire
Safari (Native RSS support in OS X Tiger)
iTunes (Native podcast support in version 4.9)
Firefox (Native RSS support)
